## Before you start

- Knowledge checks are ungraded practice. Quiz elements contribute to the course’s reported score.

- Prepare questions, correct answers, and useful feedback before adding them.

## Step by step

1. Choose Add block → Assessment → Knowledge check for a practice question, or Quiz for a graded set.

2. Select the question type: multiple choice, multiple response, fill in the blank, or matching.

3. Write the prompt and edit the answer choices or matching pairs. Mark the correct answer or answers using the question editor.

4. Add feedback explaining why an answer is right or wrong. For a Quiz, use Add question to build the set.

5. If using a random subset, enable Draw random subset and choose how many questions learners receive per attempt.

6. For quiz-based completion, open Options → Course settings and choose When the quiz is passed, then set the Pass mark.

7. Preview and submit correct, partially correct, and incorrect attempts. Export to your LMS to verify its recorded score and status.

## What to expect

Graded quizzes aggregate into a 0–100 course score. Knowledge checks do not contribute to that score. Your completion setting determines whether a score or viewing all chapters completes the course.

## Tips & troubleshooting

- Changing a prompt without updating the correct answers can produce misleading results.

- For multiple-response questions, test all intended selections rather than assuming partial selections will pass.

- Do not choose quiz-based completion without including a usable graded quiz.

- Diagnostics are helpful, but an actual LMS test remains necessary for the final package.
