## Before you start

- Prepare an audio or video file supported by the target browser, or a suitable hosted media URL.

- Externally hosted media requires a connection when learners access it.

## Step by step

1. Choose Add block → Media → Audio or Video.

2. Use the element’s file or URL controls to add the recording.

3. Write nearby text explaining what learners should listen or look for. Include a transcript or equivalent text where needed.

4. Preview the chapter and test playback, seeking, and volume.

5. If an interaction depends on media completion, test the Continue control after the recording.

6. Export and test the result in the browser or LMS that learners will actually use.

## What to expect

Learners can play the recording within the course. Uploaded media is packaged with the project; external URLs continue to depend on their host.

## Tips & troubleshooting

- Large local recordings can make single-file HTML unwieldy. Use a Web package (ZIP) when more suitable.

- A provider may block embedding or restrict a URL to signed-in users. Test as a learner, not only as the author.

- Chapter narration uses a separate script and generation workflow; adding an Audio element does not automatically narrate a chapter.
